Regular Meeting -- September 10, 2023
The Board of Directors held its regular monthly meeting at 2007 Bert Avenue, Austin, TX 78704, starting at 2:30 pm. The following directors (constituting a quorum of the full board) were present at the meeting: Vice President Kim Pillsbury, Secretary John McGarey (by Zoom), Treasurer Penny Chambers (by Zoom),. The following directors were absent: President Kathy Lee and Oceanna Latham. Robert McGarey (Executive Director) was also present at the meeting.
The Mission Statement was read aloud at the beginning of the meeting. Minutes from the previous meeting were read aloud and approved as read
Dr. Gladys Project. Bob announced that in addition to his work as Executive Director, he has been helping his 103-year old mother with the launch of her new best-selling book. She has done 164 interviews since March.
Contractors. The deck roof on the Garage Apartment has been added and the contractor thought it was done when it was only half way built. They eventually fixed it and we won't be re-hiring him. Another contractor broke a window and we won't be re-hiring him. JR got a job so will probably be able to catch up on rent
Ongoing Squatter Problems. Because of the squatter, we started in February with 80K in the bank. Now we have less than $5k. We paid $4,000 for the lawyer, almost as much to the squatter, and we gave Crystal got 1.5 months free rent because of our delay in getting her into the Garage Apartment. So she will actually start paying her rent on Oct 1. We do have $20,000 in the bank from bingo income. Bob feels it is important to restrict its use to the paying down the Mortgage and doing repairs on the property.
Since there was no further business, the meeting adjourned at around 4:30 pm.
