Regular Meeting -- November 10 , 2024
The Board of Directors held its regular monthly meeting at 2007 Bert Avenue, Austin, TX 78704, starting at 2:30 pm. The following directors were present at the meeting: Vice President Kim Pillsbury, Secretary John McGarey (by Zoom). The following directors were absent: President Kathy Lee, Treasurer Penny Chambers, and Oceanna Latham. Robert McGarey (Executive Director) was also present at the meeting. A quorum of the full board was not present, and as such, no binding decisions or votes were conducted during this meeting.
The Mission Statement was read aloud at the beginning of the meeting. The minutes from previous meetings were not reviewed or read during this meeting.
Scheduling and Administrative Updates
Meeting Schedule: The board discussed switching meetings to the second Sunday of each month.
Funeral Video: Gladys McGarey's funeral service video is available at gladysmcgarey.com.
Executor Duties: Bob, as the executor of Gladys' estate, will be returning to Scottsdale to handle associated responsibilities.
Task List: The board suggested creating a list of outstanding tasks to send via email for better organization and coordination.
financial Updates:
Cash Analysis: The financial report shows bingo income is strong, but the center is $12k in the red for the year.
Loan Reminder: Bob has loaned $3,000 to the HPC to support ongoing operations.
Debt Goal: The center aims to pay off all obligations by 2029.
Rental Income: There are three potential rental spaces that could bring in additional income if utilized.
Budgeting Tool: The board discussed using the Panorama database for budgeting in the future when more income is available. Current spending is based on immediate necessities due to limited funds.
Book and Leadership Updates:
Book Effort: Bob and John McGarey expressed their gratitude for the time and energy invested in Gladys' book.
Recovery: Bob is still regaining energy and managing his responsibilities as executor of the estate.
Since there was no further business, the meeting adjourned at around 4:30 pm.
